Building Trust & Workflow Management for the Fashion Industry

Case Study

UROOJ - Building Trust & Workflow Management for the Fashion Industry

Overview

UROOJ was a digital platform designed to modernize collaboration within the fashion and creative industries.

The fashion ecosystem often relies on informal communication channels, making it difficult for models, photographers, studios, brands, and production teams to collaborate safely and efficiently.

The goal of UROOJ was to create a trusted platform where creative professionals could discover opportunities, manage projects, communicate with verified participants, and coordinate work from concept to payment.

I worked on the project as part of FivoTech, leading technical architecture and backend development while helping transform a complex business vision into a scalable product.

The Problem

The fashion and creative industries face several operational challenges:

  • Talent discovery is fragmented across multiple platforms.
  • Communication often happens through informal channels.
  • Project requirements are difficult to track.
  • Models have limited visibility into who they are working with.
  • Agreements and payments are frequently managed outside the workflow.
  • Trust and safety remain significant concerns, especially for independent professionals.

As a result, managing creative projects becomes inefficient, difficult to monitor, and potentially unsafe.

The Solution

UROOJ was designed as a centralized collaboration platform for creative projects.

The platform enabled:

  • Models to create professional profiles.
  • Studios and brands to discover talent.
  • Project creation and management.
  • Mood board sharing and creative collaboration.
  • Timeline and task management.
  • Communication between project participants.
  • Contract and agreement workflows.
  • Payment coordination.
  • Verification mechanisms for creators and studios.

The objective was to provide transparency and structure throughout the entire project lifecycle while helping participants collaborate with greater confidence.

Technical Challenges

Complex Multi-Sided Platform

The platform needed to support multiple user types including:

  • Models
  • Studios
  • Agencies
  • Creative professionals
  • Brands

Each user group required different workflows, permissions, and experiences.

Project Lifecycle Management

Projects involved multiple stages including:

  • Discovery
  • Planning
  • Collaboration
  • Agreements
  • Payments
  • Completion

Building a flexible workflow capable of supporting diverse project types required careful architectural planning.

Scalability & Service Separation

The platform was designed with future growth in mind.

A microservices-based architecture was introduced to support independent services and evolving business requirements without creating tightly coupled systems.

Real-Time Collaboration

Creative projects require constant communication and coordination.

The architecture needed to support collaboration workflows while maintaining performance and reliability.

Technologies Used

  • NestJS
  • Angular
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • AWS
  • Amazon SQS
  • Amazon SNS
  • PostgreSQL
  • Microservices Architecture
  • REST APIs

Outcome

UROOJ successfully demonstrated how technology could bring structure, transparency, and trust to an industry that traditionally relies on fragmented workflows and informal communication.

The platform established a strong technical foundation capable of supporting project management, collaboration, verification, and payment workflows across the fashion ecosystem.

Although the product did not progress beyond its initial growth stage due to funding challenges, the project provided valuable insights into marketplace design, workflow automation, and building technology solutions for complex multi-sided platforms.

My Role

As the lead technical contributor from FivoTech, I was responsible for: * Designing the overall system architecture. * Backend development using NestJS. * Microservices architecture planning. * Cloud infrastructure design. * API development and integrations. * Technical leadership and implementation oversight. * Supporting frontend architecture and complex UI workflows. I worked closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
