Toothlens

Toothlens is an innovative dental AI platform that helps detect dental issues and streamline insurance claims. Today they are a funded startup with their own team, but I was instrumental in building their initial product.

My Role: • Led the development team as Technical Lead (not hands-on developer) • Built the initial Toothlens web application and Progressive Web App (PWA) • Implemented AI-powered tooth scanning technology to detect tartar and cavities • Integrated dental insurance verification and claims processing workflows • Created the proof-of-concept (POC) that helped the company secure initial funding • Architected the solution using React for frontend and Express.js for backend • Deployed the application on AWS with PWA capabilities for mobile access • Designed the user experience for both patients and dental professionals • Established technical foundation before transitioning the project to their in-house team

This project showcased the potential of AI in healthcare and demonstrated how technology can simplify complex insurance processes in the dental industry.
